Masterson’s Lounge, nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I discovered behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The State of the Venue : Grimy and Abandoned
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was evident that hygiene was not a priority at this establishment . The floors were sticky , and a overpowering stench of old alcohol and uncleaned toilets suffused the entire establishment . Reeking of a mixture of excrement , decay and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The restroom was in even a more revolting state — clogged , with a shattered handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.
